What made you decide to become a legal executive?
I've always been interested in law and how it all works growing up with family in close association. I began my study at VUW in Psychology and Law, moved to Auckland a few years later with family and took a break from study. I soon went in search of something to dig my teeth into again and came across the Legal Executive Diploma. Distance learning was a great way to study while busy with family life and full-time work, completing my last assignment the day that my son was born (phew!).
Where did you study and what was your favourite subject?
Victoria University of Wellington and Open Polytechnic. The Anthropology papers were my overall favourites, with Psychology a close second, they were both very fascinating and eye-opening.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
We have three choices in life – give up, give in, or give it all you’ve got.
Do you have any hobbies / interests outside of work?
Spending time with my family, developing our home and land on the outskirts of Whanganui, and generally anything outdoors, running, swimming, exploring……then there’s playing with toy trains, Lego….and wine!
If I wasn’t a legal executive I would be...
A full-time Lego assistant/mum.
What do you love about your job?Interacting with and helping so many people and families.
